Despite our 100% efforts, IVF treatment is not 100% successful. To optimize the chances of conception of our patients, we continuously strive hard and always in search of something new to add on to our IVF treatment. Here are some innovative therapies we offer in selected cases to deliver the best we can.

ENDOMETRIAL SCRATCHING

Endometrial scratching is the technique used to improve the chances of implantation of embryo in IVF cycles. This procedure is specifically indicated in cases of repeated IVF failures. It is a simple, minimally invasive, low cost OPD procedure which is scheduled in the menstrual cycle prior to that of next embryo transfer. The superficial scratching of endometrium induces an inflammatory response leading to release of certain growth factors, hormones and cytokines which improves the receptivity of uterus. Scratching also activates genes involved in endometrial receptivity.

PRP THERAPY

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrated blood product that contains a high percentage of platelets and growth factors, which have natural healing and regenerative properties. PRP therapy has a very important role in cases with thin endometrium and repeated IVF failures. PRP is prepared using patient’s own blood in the laboratory. During the endometrial preparation cycles, 0.5 ml of freshly prepared PRP in instilled intrauterine using an IUI catheter. Endometrial lining is reassessed after 2-3 days. Patients may require 1-2 sittings of Intrauterine PRP depending on the desired endometrial lining. It is safe, low cost, minimally invasive OPD procedure. Evidence suggests PRP aids in the growth of endometrium and also improves endometrial receptivity due to its growth factor content.

EMBRYOGLUE

EmbryoGlue is a hyaluronan-enriched embryo transfer media which aids in implantation of embryos, hence, improves pregnancy rates in IVF cycles. Embryos are coated with Embryoglue just prior to transferring them to uterus. EmbryoGlue acts like glue by increasing the chance of implantation of the embryo to the uterus.  It consists of a high concentration of hyaluronan and recombinant human albumin, together with all nutrients and energy sources needed for an optimal embryo development. It mimics the natural environment as hyaluronan is naturally present in our body. Studies suggest it is particularly useful in cases with unexplained infertility and repeated IVF failure cases.
